The Ultimate G.O.A.L.
The world will still be buzzing from the 2026 World Cup when we gather for the VAY Sports Fest 2026 this July. We’ve all seen incredible goals on the pitch, but this year, we are chasing something even bigger. Our theme is the “Ultimate G.O.A.L.,” and it’s all about exploring how God’s Kingdom “comes” in the middle of our games, our practices, and our daily lives.

Living for a Kingdom That Lasts
Drawing from the parables of Jesus in Matthew 13, we are breaking down what it means to live out the Great Commandment and Great Commission on the athletic field. Here is the roadmap for our journey:
G – Grounded (Matthew 13:23)
Everything starts with the heart. In sports, the best athletes are coachable—they listen and let instruction take root. Being Grounded means our hearts are “good soil” that receives God’s Word. When your identity is rooted in Christ rather than just the scoreboard, you don’t panic under pressure or lose your cool when things go wrong. You train the inside so the outside can last.
O – Overcome Opposition (Matthew 13:18-30)
Whether it’s trash talk on the court or internal distractions like the fear of failure, opposition is guaranteed. Jesus describes a “mixed field” where wheat and weeds grow together. We aren’t called to be “weed-pullers” who judge others; we are called to stay faithful and play clean. To Overcome Opposition means pre-deciding that your response to pressure will be respect and self-control, even when it costs you.
A – Agent of Change (Matthew 13:31-33)
The Kingdom of Heaven is like a tiny mustard seed or a bit of leaven in dough—it starts small but eventually transforms everything. As an Agent of Change, you don’t just adapt to your environment; you influence it. One athlete who chooses encouragement over ego or honesty over shortcuts can reshape an entire team’s culture. You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room to make a difference; you just need to be consistently faithful.
L – Lasting Win (Matthew 13:44-50)
In our world, trophies fade and records are eventually broken. A Lasting Win is defining success by what actually lasts: your character and your relationship with the King. Jesus is the “treasure hidden in a field,” the prize worth more than any medal. A true win is becoming a servant our King can trust—humble in victory, steady in loss, and clean under pressure.
